Family Engagement
Parental and family engagement is an important factor in improving student achievement. Unique to Illinois is our inclusion of parental engagement as a key feature of the Illinois Multi-Tiered System of Supports Network (IL MTSS-N).

Meaningful Family Engagement
Meaningful family engagement is based on the premise that parents, educators and community members share responsibility for youth development; is fostered through a deliberate process and embraced throughout the school community; empowers adults to jointly support student growth, addresses barriers to learning, and is mindful of diverse school-communities and responsive to student and family needs.
MTSS for Families
Schools are committed to helping all children succeed. They have many ways to help children learn and to ensure those who need additional supports are successful. The Illinois Multi-Tiered System of Supports Network (IL MTSS-N) is one way schools provide those supports.

Learning Resources
Resources include the basic components of any MTSS process and questions you might want to ask your child’s school to learn more about their MTSS process. Also included are ways you can get involved in the process and what to do and where to go if you have questions or concerns. In addition, the Illinois State Board of Education provides “The Parent Guide” to help guide the parent. This resource is “for parents, teachers, administrators, and others to learn about the educational rights of children who receive special education and related services due to disabilities that affect their ability to achieve academically.”
